GREEN BUILDING RECOGNITION PROGRAMME IS LAUNCHED BY THE S...

The Sochi 2014 Organising Committee and SC Olympstroy are proud to announce the launch of the “Green Building Recognition Programme”, aimed at rewarding achievements for innovative environmental solutions at the Olympic venues, both at design and construction stages.
One of the most important legacies to remain after the Sochi 2014 Winter Games takes place is likely to be the “Green Standards”, which were tailor made and used for the first time for the construction of the venues. Experience gained by applying these “Green Standards”, championing Energy efficiency and Environmental protection, will form the basis for a nationwide roll-out of Russian Green Standards.
The Sochi 2014 Organising Committee and SC Olympstroy are proud to announce the launch of the “Green Building Recognition Programme”, aimed at rewarding achievements for innovative environmental solutions at the Olympic venues, both at design and construction stages. The overall aim is to encourage organisations participating in the construction of Olympic venues to try out innovative solutions and to capture best practice. The programme is split into three rounds: in 2011 between planners and designers, in 2012 between construction companies and in 2013 between developers and investors.
Applications for the first round of the competition – to be held between planners and designers working on the Sochi Olympic venues – may be submitted between June 5th and July 15th 2011. Entries will be judged by a panel of independent Russian and International experts in Green Building, representatives of the world’s leading sporting bodies as well as state officials. A short-list will be drawn up in August 2011. The winners will be announced at a grand award ceremony to be held during the “Tenth International Investment Forum - Sochi 2011”. A summary of the 2011 Round of the Recognition Programme will be published as part of the 3rd Report on Green building Standards implementation.
Experience gathered and passed on at construction stage of the Olympic venues, will disseminate across the country and prove a key stepping stone for building capacity in the domestic green building industry and implementation of national green standards. The Green Building Recognition Programme not only recognises the credentials of successful designers and planners, but also to their commitment towards the XXII Winter Olympic and XI Winter Paralympic Games legacy.
